Ingredients for Homemade Tacos

Three Mexican Homemade Tacos with chili peppers and onion served on a black plate with lime slices
  • 1 and ½ cup cornmeal
  • 4 Tbsp wheat flour
  • 3 cups of water
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 4 Tbsp olive oil
  • 500g minced meat
  • 3 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 chopped green pepper
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 4 crushed garlic cloves
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1medium Tomato
  • 1 small bunch of lettuce

Instructions

To make the dough, put the water to boil along with the oil and salt. Add the flours and stir the mixture until the dough begins to pull away from the bottom of the pan. Let the dough rest and start working with it before it cools completely, as it tends to become crumbly when handled cold.

Sprinkle the work table with corn flour and knead the dough by adding more flour until the dough is homogeneous.

Roll out the dough to desired thickness and cut out the tortillas with a round cutter. Drizzle some olive oil in a frying pan, place the tortillas one by one allowing the dough brown a little on both sides.

With the tortillas still warm, bend them slightly so that they take on the curved shape of tacos then allow them to cool.

Chop the bell pepper, onion and garlic and sauté them in a pan with olive oil on medium heat. Add the tomato paste, salt and pepper. Take off the heat and fill the homemade tacos with spoonfuls of the stuffing.

Finish the homemade tacos with lettuce and tomatoes.
